The wonderful students in Mrs. Lee’s Fantastic 2nd Grade Class at Cayuga Heights Elementary School in Ithaca, New York learned all about communities.
They learned about Urban, Rural and Suburban communities.

My favorite place in Ithaca is Cass Park’s swimming pool because you can swim there. They have a slide and a diving board there and a little kids pool. You can get snacks at the pool but I never eat them there. It is fun!

My favorite place in my neighborhood is the Cornell Plantations. I live next to them. I like it there because there are a lot of animals there. Sometimes I see red-tailed hawks. I also see lovely flowers there. I like it a lot because it is right next to my house.

My favorite place in Ithaca is my 2nd grade teacher’s classroom because there is a frog, a turtle, and different kinds of fish. My classroom has lots of books so everyone can read. We do lots of activities. Our class rocks and rules! I love my teacher!!

My favorite place in Ithaca is my Nana’s house because she has a dog named Jake. It is impossible to walk by him because he only likes me and my cousin. This is because he is use to me and my cousin always being there. My Nana takes me to the pond with Jake.

My favorite place in Ithaca is the Cornell hockey rink. I like it because the rink is cool and I like to watch the hockey players play. I also like to ice skate on the ice there. I like the Cornell players the best. I have seen them on television. I do not watch it anymore because I do not have time.

My favorite place in Ithaca is the Bowl-o-drom downtown. I like to go bowling there.

My favorite place in Ithaca is Cass Park because I love ice-skating with my family and my friends, going around in circles, as well as getting snow on my skates. The ice rink is so cold. I like the snack bar because they have sweets and lovely hot chocolate.

My favorite place in Ithaca is my second grade classroom. It is my favorite place in Ithaca because I love school and I love my teacher. I like the frogs, fish, and the Russian turtle. Our school is in a suburban area. Our class is full of many extraordinary things. Our classroom is exquisite.

My favorite place in Ithaca is Cayuga Lake. I love it because my parents and I can take my boat out and I can jump off my boat and into the water. I can go water tubing. It is fun. Sometimes it can be really, really hot! My dad lets me drive the boat. It is fun to steer the boat. Sometimes we go all day long! I just love going on the boat!

My favorite place in Ithaca is West Village. It is fun. My friend Bruce plays with me too. He is nice to me. My other friend Alex, let me ride his dirt bike, it was fun.

My favorite place in Ithaca is the school playground and my favorite place in my neighborhood is at my friend’s house on her porch. I have fun at my grandma’s house in Cuba also because she has a little dog in her house. I like playing with my friends. I like playing tag and hide-n-go-seek. I also have fun going to my Mom’s work at Cornel University.

My favorite place in Ithaca is the Museum of the Earth. It has a complete mastodon skeleton there.

My favorite place in my neighborhood belongs to the mayor of Cayuga Heights. It is his stone garden. It has statues of people, statues of animals and a little cottage. It is my favorite place because I like to sit next to the statues and get my picture taken. I like to play the three little pigs in the cottage and I like to pretend the cottage is a restaurant. I also go on a trail along the stream and jump on rocks to get to the other side.

My favorite place in my neighborhood is the woods near my house. Sometimes I go to the woods with my friends. When I go there, I pick flowers for my mom. I pick daisies that are yellow and she loves it.

My favorite place in Ithaca is the woods by my house. When I get out of school, I go home to get my boots on. I go to the woods to find water snakes. I have to look under rocks to look for them. Water snakes are really hard to find.
